Hello All!
I want to welcome everyone to the blog I will be keeping to chronicle the adventures that I am having during my time abroad in Leeds, England. Because of the time zone difference, I figured I wouldn't have a ton of time that is convenient for both the people back home and me. It 8 hours a head in case any one was wondering. They also tell you in the orientation that you shouldn't spend too much time talking to people back home, but I want to tell everyone what's going on....or at least put it on the internet so I can read it later.
So the basics real quick. I am a 4th year at UCSB and I am majoring in English. I am going to Leeds, England and I am going to be attending University of Leeds. I am taking 3 classes a semester. I only know 1 class I'm taking this quarter: James Joyce's Ulysses. The second quarter I'm taking contemporary Literature, America, Inundated: Floods and British Politics. It's going to be interesting. I have no idea what to expect.
I am going to be living (I think) at 168 Ash Road in Leeds. It's about 2 miles from campus. Its suppose to be full of 21 and older post graduate students, but I have no idea who any of them are.
I'm leaving today on September 11 at about 7am. Am I worried about anything happening? no way. Lightning never strikes twice and all that nonsense. I'll be flying to Detroit, then to Amsterdam, then to Edinburgh. After orientation for 3 days, I take a train from Edinburgh to Leeds. Then I figure out where I'm going to live.....
Watch here for more updates.
You have left Nova Albion to explore Exemplar Albion. How fitting.
